Getting Started
- Open a regular HTTP or HTTPS webpage.
- Open ktxShot from the browser toolbar or page context menu.
- Choose Visible Area, Full Page, or Scrolling Area.
- Edit the captured image.
- Select Download PNG, Copy, or Print / PDF.
Use Alt + Shift + V to capture the visible area or Alt + Shift + F to capture the full page. You can change extension shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Common Issues
ktxShot cannot capture this page
Chrome prevents extensions from capturing some internal and protected pages. Pages beginning with chrome://, the Chrome Web Store, and some browser-managed pages may be unavailable. Open a regular HTTP or HTTPS page and try again.
Capture does not work on a local file
Access to file:// pages is disabled by default. Open Chrome's extension management page, open ktxShot's settings, and enable Allow access to file URLs. Refresh the local page before trying again.
Full-page capture misses or repeats content
Pages can change while ktxShot scrolls. Lazy-loaded content, sticky or fixed elements, animations, and dynamic blocks can alter page geometry during capture.
- Wait for the page to finish loading.
- Close pop-ups and pause videos.
- Try the capture again.
- Use Scrolling Area instead of Full Page when needed.
Some highly dynamic pages may not produce a perfectly continuous full-page capture.
The screenshot is too large
ktxShot rejects oversized images before they can consume unsafe amounts of browser memory.
- The maximum length of either image edge is 16,384 pixels.
- The maximum estimated RGBA surface memory is 256 MiB.
Use Scrolling Area or capture the page in multiple parts.
Copy to clipboard does not work
Copy depends on Chrome and operating-system permissions and must follow an explicit user action. Other apps or system settings may block clipboard access. Select Copy again, check browser and system permissions, or use Download PNG instead.
Download PNG does not start
Try the action again, review Chrome's automatic download settings, and check whether the browser or security software blocked the download. Copy or Print / PDF can be used as a temporary alternative. ktxShot does not control your download folder.
Print or PDF contains browser headers or margins
The final output depends on Chrome's system print dialog.
- Select Save as PDF.
- Turn off Headers and footers.
- Choose appropriate margins, scale, and orientation.
- Review the preview before saving.
Editor opened but the image is unavailable
Temporary screenshot sessions expire after 30 minutes, and a successful PNG download removes its source session immediately. A closed, expired, or deleted session cannot be recovered. Start a new capture.
Known Limitations
- Chrome internal pages cannot be captured.
- Chrome Web Store pages may be restricted.
- Local files require explicit file URL access.
- Cross-origin frames and browser-controlled surfaces may not be fully capturable.
- Dynamic, animated, sticky-heavy, or lazy-loading pages may produce inconsistent results.
- Extremely large captures are rejected before unsafe image allocation.
- Clipboard export depends on browser and operating-system permissions.
- PDF export currently uses the browser print dialog.
- Cloud uploads, permanent links, accounts, screenshot history, and synchronization are not available in the current release.
Export Help
Download PNG saves through Chrome's download workflow. Copy places the rendered PNG on the clipboard after your explicit action. Print / PDF opens the browser's print dialog, where you control destination, margins, scale, and orientation.
If one export path is blocked by browser or operating-system settings, use another option while you review the relevant permissions.

Report a Bug
Before contacting support, try to reproduce the issue on a public test page when possible. Include:
- ktxShot version.
- Chrome version.
- Operating system.
- Capture mode.
- Page type, without private URL details unless they are necessary.
- Clear steps to reproduce the issue.
- Expected result and actual result.
- Whether the issue happens consistently.
- Any error message shown by ktxShot.
Please do not send passwords, authentication codes, financial information, private messages, confidential documents, or sensitive screenshots unless sharing that specific content is necessary and intentional.
If a screenshot is necessary:
- Crop areas unrelated to the issue.
- Blur personal information.
- Use an artificial example when possible.
- Explicitly state that you consent to sharing that specific file for support.
Privacy and Sensitive Information
ktxShot does not receive your screenshots. Processing happens locally, temporary capture sessions are automatically deleted, and captured page URLs and titles are not stored. The extension has no analytics, advertising, telemetry, or cloud upload service.
